The Sequential Circuits Prophet-10 is a polyphonic analog synthesizer released in 1978. It was the first synthesizer to feature 10-voice polyphony and two independent sound-generating sections. It was used by a variety of artists, including Herbie Hancock, Prince, and Depeche Mode.
The Prophet-10 works by generating sound waves using two oscillators per voice. These oscillators can be set to different waveforms, such as sawtooth, triangle, and pulse. The oscillators can be modulated by an envelope generator, which controls the attack, decay, sustain, and release of the sound. The Prophet-10 also features a low-pass filter, which can be used to shape the sound. Additionally, the Prophet-10 has a built-in chorus effect, which can be used to create a thicker sound.
